Speech Therapy
Here at Graham Regional Medical Center we offer speech therapy services to adults and children who qualify. Speech therapy covers a variety of communication disorders such as: aphasia, apraxia, dysarthria, traumatic brain injury, voice disorders, cognitive rehabilitation, stuttering, behavioral feeding disorders, language disorders, and other neuropathologies. We are also qualified to work with patients who suffer from dysphagia, or trouble swallowing. We are able to perform modified barium swallow studies in x-ray to ensure proper therapy techniques are established in order to decrease risk of aspiration.
The Speech Language Pathologist, Bethany Lankford, moved to Graham in May of 2010. Bethany is from Amarillo, Texas where she worked at Baptist St. Anthony’s hospital gaining experience in acute care, ICU, and acute rehab. She has experience working in the school setting and Early Childhood Intervention as well. Bethany is also able perform modified barium swallow studies and provide education to patients and family members on ways to decrease risk of aspiration and improve quality of life.
Bethany has recently started a stroke support group which meets once a month. This is a group for stroke survivors to come together and celebrate life after stroke. We encourage each other to work hard, have fun, and enjoy life. This is a great group to be a part of and it helps stroke survivors realize that there is life after a stroke.
We are currently in the process of becoming a Medicaid provider. Please call with any questions or referrals you may have.
