Cardiac Rehabilitation

What is it?
Cardiac Rehabilitation is a medically supervised program to help heart patients recover quickly and improve their overall physical, mental and social functioning. The goal is to stabilize, slow or even reverse the progression of cardiovascular disease, thereby reducing the risk of heart disease, another cardiac event or death.

Who can benefit?
Cardiac rehab is designed for people with heart disease (angina or heart failure) and for people who have had a heart attack, coronary bypass surgery, balloon catheter (PTCA) procedure, or a heart transplant. It is also effective for people who have coronary artery disease, cerebral vascular problems, or who have had a stroke.

What does it cost?
Costs are covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurers when recommended by your doctor. A doctor's approval is required.
